All routine cutting continues especially after the 16mm of rain we had at the weekend, plus we have been trying to have the turf iron out when possible to help gain more surface speed to both sets of greens

Other jobs apart from the cutting was course set up each morning and to continue to seed and top-dress drainage lines, cut, turf iron and spray fungicide on the Craighead greens

Thursday 20 June 2013

Yesterday we carried out maintenance on the Craighead course greens by micro hollow tining, cleaning/blowing cores, double verti-cutting, cutting greens, cutting surrounds and changing holes to help reduce thatch levels. With carrying out this work other jobs had to be left ie bunker raking etc so hopefully catch up on these jobs today

On the Balcomie course we had a medal on so course set up was rake bunkers, change holes/tee markers, cut & turf iron greens and only cut the harder growing fairways as growth has slowed down with it dry/burning up just like it should be it must be at least 3 years since it played like a true links with all the rain we have had in the past summers.

This afternoon once we completed our daily cutting and course set up we made a start to heavy top-dressing the drainage lines on hole 18 on the Balcomie course

 Another lovely day at Crail
Today we spiked the Balcomie greens to a depth of 1" to relieve compaction, allow air and water into the soil profile which really helps in this dry and breezy weather. Congratulations to the Lady members who took part in a 72 hole charity event over both the courses yesterday
Yet another leak in the irrigation box at hole 5

Tuesday 11 June 2013

we are trying to catch up with jobs other than cutting ie levelling and seeding area on driving range that we took turf for using on winter projects
Cleaning and blowing car parks and road to clubhouse etc
Local fisherman's boat broke down and hit the rocks just off the 4th fairway on the Balcomie course
Cowslips in flower right of the 3rd hole on the Balcomie course
Other jobs have been cutting all areas, daily course set up, continuing to fix irrigation bursts on the Balcomie course and hand water high spots
